I am currently at a 25% grandparent retention rate. I think what is magical about grandparents passing, is they have some way of still staying with you:
A. Every time the Detroit Tigers win, I can feel my Mom's Dad putting some good energy into the world.
B. I have 200 neckties I got from my Dad's Dad. every time I dress fancy, I feel him saying "yeah, i looked good in 1940, in fact I had to beat the ladies away. If you only knew how many bastard half cousins you have because of how damn sharp I looked in these ties. Be careful Aaron! I ain't saying she's a gold digger... but..."
C. And every time I'm in trouble, my Dad's mom is all "don't worry Aaron, you are number one on my prayer list... because it is alphabetical".
In fact, one could go so far as to say that the silver lining of a cloud is actually someone's dead grandparent with their old person silver hair hanging out looking over us.

Optimism
There is no point in labeling a glass as half full or half empty if the glass is full of crap.
